With Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar hopes to follow the huge success of GTA 5Time: Oct. 26, 2018
Rockstar Games celebrated its greatest success of all time with Grand Theft Auto V, which has become one of the best-selling video games since its launch in 2013. No new titles have been released in recent years, but that changes with the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 Xbox One Key this week.
The anticipated prequel to Red Dead Redemption 2010 puts players in the role of Arthur Morgan, an outlaw who seeks to escape the law with his gang. It follows the same basic open format as Grand Theft Auto V, which provides players with a vast world of games that they can explore and support as part of a 50-hour campaign.
GTA V's revenues far exceeded 95 million units, including a small number of games in total revenue, according to recent figures from rockstar parent company Take-Two. When Take-Two monitors additional purchases related to the game, Take-Two is "the most profitable entertainment product of all time."
Five years after its debut, GTA V regularly ranks among the best-selling games in the United States every month. The NPD Group tracking company recorded physical sales and some digital sales in the United States. The success of Rockstar often exceeds even the most anticipated new releases.
